Winners: HIMS

Hosts Himalayan International Model School (HIMS) of Kathmandu, Nepal defeated Ekalavya Model Residential School of Sikkim, India 57 – 54 in the final to lift the title of 1st HIMS Invitational Club Level Women’s Basketball Tournament here at Kathmandu, Nepal.

HIMS took the first quarter 21 – 11 while Ekalavya took the second quarter 18 – 6. Going to the half time break it was Ekalavya leading 29 – 27 but after the break HIMS took third and fourth quarter 18 – 14 and 12 – 11 to lift the inaugural title of the HIMS Invitational Club Level Women’s Basketball Tournament.

“Women of the final match” Samikchya Neupane netted game high 18 points for HIMS while Gyanu Gauchan netted 13, Neha Chaudhari netted 11, Preeti Tulachan scored 10 and Maya Syangten netted 5 points for the winners. Nima Bhutia was top scorer for Ekalavya with 10 points.

Nima Bhutia of Ekalavya Model Residential School of Sikkim, India was declared Most Valuable Player of the tournament and received Nepalese Rupees 10000 in cash prize.

First of it’s kind tournament in Nepal, four invited teams; hosts HIMS, Ekalavya (India), Saipal Academy (Nepal) and RIBS All Star (Nepal) took part in the event which was held in the premises of host Hosts Himalayan International Model School (HIMS) at Kathmandu, Nepal.

Winner HIMS took home Cash prize of Nepalese Rupees 100000 while Ekalavya took home Nepalese Rupees 50000 in cash prize.

India defeated defending champions Bangladesh 93 (19, 32, 27, 15) – 39 (8, 13, 7, 11) in the day 2 of the South Asian Basketball Championship for Men.

Bangladesh defeated Sri Lanka 72 – 70.

Hosts Bangladesh are crowned the champions of the inaugural edition of South Asian Basketball Association (SABA) 3×3 Men’s Basketball Championship after it defeated Maldives 21 – 7 in their last match of the championship which was held at Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Hosts defeated all the participating countries to lift the championship. They beat Bhutan 22 – 09, Sri Lanka 20 – 09, Nepal 20 – 18 and Maldives 21 – 09 en-route to lifting the first edition of the SABA 3×3 Men’s Basketball Championship.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka won silver and Nepal secured third position in the championship.

After India, Pakistan and Afghanistan pulled out of the championship, five countries of South Asia, Hosts Bangladesh, Nepal, Maldives, Bhutan and Sri Lanka battled it out for 3×3 supremacy in the South Asia.

Nepal finishes in third position in the inaugural edition of South Asian Basketball Association (SABA) 3×3 Men’s Basketball Championship which was held at Dhaka, Bangladesh.

There is a mix result for Nepal in the day 1 of the 1st SABA 3×3 Men’s Basketball championship here at Dhaka, Bangladesh. Nepal lost their first match to Srilanka 15 – 17  in the Dhanmondi Indoor Basketball Court at Dhaka. Nepal bounce back in the second match by defeating Maldives 18 – 10 while lost their last match of the day 1 to hosts Bangladesh 18 – 20.
