Nepal went down to SABA Giant India 26 – 109 in the opening match of the South Asian Basketball Association (SABA) qualifiers for 27th FIBA ASIA CHAMPIONSHIP for MEN, here at Thyagraj Indoor Stadium in the Indian capitol, New Delhi.
Nepal without the regular 3 National team players including the skipper Shooting Guard Sadish Pradhan, Centre Bikram Joshi and Power Forward Binod Maharjan, was no match for the SABA giant India. The three players are most probably the best 3 players currently in Nepal.
India lead Nepal 24-8 at the end of the first quarter while Nepal were down to India 61-12 at the halftime. It was a one way traffic from India and there was no way coming back to Nepal in the game.
Narender Kumar Grewal, Joginder Singh and Amritpal Singh were the top scorers for India with 14 points each in the one-sided encounter while Sushil Gurung and Sanjay Byanjankar scored nine and seven points, respectively, for Nepal.
Afghanistan play Nepal Monday while India take on Afghanistan in the final match Tuesday.
