The inaugural edition of the 1st FIBA Asia 3×3 U18 Championship for Boys and Girls has started in Bangkok, Thailand with 36 different teams, representing 18 countries across FIBA Asia – ranging from Japan in East to Lebanon in the West and Kazakhstan in the North to Maldives in the South – will be on show showcasing their skills in the Thai capital.

Nepal Boys and Girls team are also participating in the championship. On the first day of the championship, Nepal Boys team lost to Thailand 8 – 21 while in the second match Nepal Boys team beat Srilanka 13-12. It’s a mix result for Nepal Boys team.

Girls team of Nepal played only one match in the first day losing to Philippines 6 – 13.

Nepal Girls team: Sneha Shrestha, Anusha Malla, Shreya Khadka and Chhoki Dolma Tamang

Nepal Boys team: Dilli Kumar Limbu, Krishna Man Maharjan, Binesh Neupane and Sonam Thendu Sherpa.

Nepal’s Boys and Girls team are drawn in tough group for the First FIBA Asia U-18 Boys and Girls 3X3 Basketball Championship to be held at Bangkok from May 22-24, 2013.  Nepal Girls team consists of  Sneha Shrestha, Anusha Malla, Shreya Khadka and Chhoki Dolma Tamang while the boys team consists of  Dilli Kumar Limbu, Krishna Man Maharjan, Binesh Neupane and Sonam Thendu Sherpa. Bikash Shahi is the Manager/Coach of the team.

Nepali Boys and Girls 3×3 basketball teams are leaving for Thailandtoday to participate in the First FIBA Asia U-18 boys and girls 3X3 Basketball Championship to be held in Bangkok from May 22-24, 2013. Coach Bikash Shahi will lead the Nepali teams as Manager/Coach. Sneha Shrestha, Anusha Malla, Shreya Khadka and Chhoki Dolma Tamang are in the Nepali women´s team while the men´s team comprises Dilli Kumar Limbu, Krishna Man Maharjan, Binesh Neupane and Sonam Thendu Sherpa.

Nepal’s one and only FIBA Referee Raj Kumar Maharjan is nominated by FIBA ASIA to officiate in the First FIBA Asia U-18 Boys and Girls 3X3 Basketball Championship to be held in Bangkok from May 22-24, 2013.

India beat Mongolia 21-14 to win women’s gold while Qatar beat Saudi Arabia 19-17 to win men’s gold. Turkmenistan beat HK 10-8 to obtain 3rd place in women’s category while Iran beat Jordan 19-8 to obtain 3rd place in men’s category.

Boney Watson of Qatar along with Fadel El Zubi of Jordan and Moosa Nabipour were declared members of Dream Team for the men’s while Geethu Anna Jose of India along with Lea Abi Ghosn of Lebanon and Nigyara Nagiyeva of Turkmenistan were declared members of Dream Team for the women’s.

Despite losing all matches in group stage, Nepal women’s team enter the QF of the FIBA ASIA 3×3 Championship in Doha, Qatar. After QATAR’s GREY team pulled out of the competition, Nepal got chance to play QF despite loosing all the matches in the preliminary round.

Nepal will face Turkmenistan in the QF.

Nepal’s Men’s team crashed out of the 1st FIBA ASIA 3×3 Championship for men which was held at the Qatari Capitol, Doha. Nepal’s Men’s team lost all three matches.
