The 10th edition of the Prime Cup, one of the most reputable college-level basketball championship organized by Prime College and technically supported by Nepal Basketball Association, concluded here at Kathmandu, Nepal with Trinity International College and Prime College winning the title of Boy’s and Girl’s category title respectively.
In boys’ championship match, Trinity beat Xavier International College 48-26. Xavier defeated the defending champions National Campus in the last four to enter the final and were expected to give tough time to Trinity but Trinity open the final match with 15-8 lead in the first quarter.
Trinity were 12 to that off 7 from Xavier in the second quarter while Trinity lead the third quarter with 7-5 to enter the last quarter with 14-point lead. Trinity then won the championship in style scoring 14 points in the final period when Xavier only added 6. Sandesh Tamang posted 17 points for the winners. Sandesh Tamang was later adjudged the Most Valuable Player of the Championship.
Prime College meanwhile, thrashed NASA 45-27 to win the girls title. Prime took the first quarter by 12-3 and won the second quarter by 14 – 8. While NASA managed to take a slim three-point (8-5) lead in the third but Prime sealed the title taking the last quarter 14-8. Sneha Shrestha of Prime was judged MVP of the Girls category of the championship.
Total of 24 in boys and 8 girls’ teams were invited to participate in Championship.
