Inter college and Inter School basketball tournament organized by Rupendehi Basketball Association (affiliated with Nepal Basketball Association) concluded on 17 September 2011 at Butwol, Rupendehi, Nepal. Ten college’s team participated in the college basketball event while four schools participated in the school event.

Ten colleges participated in the college basketball event are Kshitiz Int. College , Manimukunda College , Crimson College Of Technology , Siddhartha Gautam Buddha College , New Horizon College , Lumbini Engenering College , Tilotama College , Glorious College , Sunshine College & Achiverse College.

Four Schools Participated In The School Basketball Event Are New Horizon School, Deep Boarding School, Everest E.B.School & Nawaratna School.

The championship was played in the league cum knockout format.

College final was between Kshitiz Int. College (KIC)  & Manimukunda College in which  KIC won by 63 – 37. Bikram Chhetri of KIC was judged MVP in the college event while Mohan Shrestha was highest scorer of the college event of the championship.

In the school event, New Horizon School played final with Everest School. New horizon school won by 52 – 29 and Sansar Gurung of New Horizon School was judged MVP in the school event and Khimananda Bhusal was the highest scorer.

The winner of the college event got Nrs. 15,000 cash prize while the runners up team got Nrs. 10,000 cash Prize. In the school event, the winner team was awarded with cash prize of Nrs. 10,000 while the runners up team got Nrs. 5,000 in cash prize.

“NeBA Basic Basketball Coaching Clinic” is concluded here today at the premises of Morgan International College, Kathmandu. 20 participants (basketball coaches) of the “NeBA Basic Basketball Clinic” were awarded with the participation certificate in the closing ceremony of the clinic. Nepal Basketball Association (NeBA) Secretary General Dinesh Thapa awarded the certificate to the participants while the instructor of the clinic was the head coach Dinesh Chandra Nakarmi.

The clinic was organized from 3 to 15 September 2011. NeBA Secretary General Dinesh Thapa thanked all the participants for participating in the clinic and also congratulate the participants for successfully completing the clinic.

Nepal Women;s National 3×3 basketball team is all set to participate in the 3×3 basketball in the upcoming 1st South Asian Beach Games scheduled to be held at Srilanka from 8 – 14 October 2011. Alish Ghale, Nayana Shakya, Sadina Shrestha & Sujata Rai were selected by the selection committee of Nepal Basketball Association to represent Nepal’s Women’s 3×3 National team in first South Asia Beach Games. Bikash Shahi is is the coach of the team.

Argentina won their second FIBA Americas in history after beating Brazil 80-75 in Mar del Plata. The two teams had already clinched an Olympic spot thanks to their semifinal wins to Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico that ended third and fourth respectively.

In a game that stayed close throughout, Argentina prevailed led by Luis Scola, who scored his tournament-high 32 points, handled in four assists and grabbed three rebounds.

My favorite player; Scola was FIBA Americas MVP and top scorer.

New Zealand edged out Bulgaria 19-18 in the Boys Final at the 1st 3×3 Youth World Championship & Spain, meanwhile, beat hosts Italy 16-15 to take the title of champions in the Girls category.

After loosing all the league matches of Group C in the first 3×3 youth world basketball championship in Italy, Nepal played playoffs in the classification round of the championship. After loosing to Guam by 7 – 19 in the first playoff match, Nepal played another play off match for the 35th/36th place against Qatar. In the 35th/36th place match, Nepal beat Qatar by 21 – 10. It is a historic win for Nepal in the first 3×3 youth world cup in Italy. The scorers for Nepal are Manish Tamang – 1 Pts., Norbu Tshering Lama – 9 pts., Bijay Burja – 4 pts. and Sujan Pun – 7 pts.

In the first outing in the world stage, Nepal 3×3 youth team should that there is lot potential in Nepal with 3×3 basketball. Nepal is now ranked 35th in the world in 3×3 youth category

  • Nepal Lost to Guam by 7 – 19. (Scorer for Nepal: Manish -2, Bijy – 3, Sujan -2)
